Some years ago I was so lucky to be able to acquire this gorgeous skirt (approx. date 1948-1952), among other things, when a textile shop closed and sold cheaply all items that have remained in their store-room for dozens of years. I took it in two color variations, one with black lines you can see in the picture above, all other show the blue version


Vor einigen Jahren hatte ich das Glück, nach einer Geschäftsauflösung billig einige Kleidungsstücke  aus dem Jahrzehnte alten Lager zu kaufen, darunter diesen Rock aus der Zeit von ca. 1940 - 1954, in zwei Farbversionen. Die eine mit schwarzen Streifen oben, alle anderen Fotos sind von der blauen Version


Alcuni anni fa sono riuscita a prendere alcuni capi degli anni 50' dopo la chiusura di un negozio che aveva accumulato nel magazzino vestiti per decenni. Questa gonna, che dovrebbe essere del periodo ca. 1948-54, l'ho presa in due versioni. Quella con righe nere nella foto sopra, tutte le altre sono della versione blu

It is difficult just to describe it, would look much better shown while worn (but I have nobody to take these pictures - better for you :lol) The two lower tiers are wider than circles, finely pleated, and give an incredible swing while moving, although the fabric is a wool flannel. You can see the exact details on the picture below


Es ist fast unmöglich, diesen Rock adäquat zu beschreiben, er müsste getragen abgebildet werden (aber zu eurem Glück habe ich niemanden, der mich fotografiert :lol). Er hat drei Stufen, die oberste glatt, die unteren zwei im Sonnen-Plissee, und wenn man sich dreht, schwingt er so richtig schön, obwohl er aus Wollflannell ist. Non si può descrivere come si muove la gonna quando é indossata, ma non ho nessuno che mi fa le foto.......per la vostra fortuna :lol  E in tre balze, la prima liscia, le altre due plissettate finemente. Il materiale e flanella di lana leggera. Alcuni dettagli sotto

Like it is fairly usual for skirts of this period (remember, it's impoverished post-war Europe), the waist in not finished like we are used to now, that's to say, no waistband of the same fabric, but of visible elastic ribbon. It was meant to fit more than one waist size, and was worn with one of the short, tights jersey tops of the moment  or a shirt and a belt. Anyway, it could easily be tucked inside and fixed. The label spells 'manufacture of great class'


An Röcken aus dieser Zeit gibt es oft keinen Bund, sondern ein elastisches Band, damit es mehreren Größen passte (war ja nicht gerade eine besonders reiche Zeit, nach dem Krieg...), und er wurde entweder mit einem der kleinen Pullover darüber getragen oder mit einer Bluse und einem Gürtel, mit eher hoher Taille. Ein eingenähtes Schild sagt 'Konfektion von grosser Klasse'


Gonne di questo periodo spesso non hanno un cinturino della stessa stoffa ma un elastico per adattarsi a più misure (dopotutto, erano tempi poveri). Si portava con una maglia corta e stretta, o con blusa e cintura a vita alta. Era comunque una 'Confezione di gran classe' ;-)

I love ankle-length clothes since I was a teen, when 'midi' 'became modern, and on a still not fully grown girl it was longer than intended.

Still remember my first two coats of this type - one in black off my aunt's wardrobe, 1950', with tight body and flared lower part . It was my first 'adult' piece.
The second one I received for Christmas, and it was an even greater wonder: A-line Betty Barclay  with tight body, and a short cape over it, trimmed with fake fur. Nobody else in my school had a coat like this, and I felt so proud! ;-)

Many of you will not know, but these were the days when children received special clothes only for Christmas and Birthdays, plus things knitted or tailored by your mother, grandmother or aunts. I was lucky because allowed to raid the wardrobes of items in disuse of all three - think that's when my love of Vintage was born. They had so many amazing 50'clothes!!! No older things, though, because the war had left over absolutely nothing in the area where I was born.

My 'special' aunt adapted them all for me. And after ten years of making clothes for my Barbie (yes, single, even the 'rich' girls had just one, and maybe a Ken :)) I started handcrafting for myself, and soon had to claim the storeroom behind mine for lack of space. Another aunt presented me with her old sofa, armchairs and low table - 50' too - and I felt like a princess in her vast castle :lol

Gone are those days, and I only remember them now, while thinking of a story to tell.
It started with me wishing to post several flared skirts on the theme of red. Putting them together I decided immediately to wear a 50' radial pleated tiered tartan flannel one.
Over it came a recently acquired coat - of black bouclé fabric with sequins, which reminded me of one in my mother's wardrobe which I never was allowed to wear because it was new.

Ich liebe knöchellange Kleidung seit meiner Teenager-Zeit, als 'midi' modern wurde - und mit 15 war mir noch alles zu lang......... 

Ich kann mich noch gut an meine ersten beiden Mäntel dieses Typs erinnern - einer war schwarz, mit engem Oberteil und weitem Rock, 50-er Jahre, aus der Garderobe meiner Lieblings-Tante. Es war mein erstes 'erwachsenes' Kleidungsstück.
Den zweiten habe ich zu Weihnachten bekommen, und er war noch wunderbarer: Betty Barclay, in A-Linie, mit einem kurzen Cape darüber, das mit Webpelz besetzt war. Niemand in meiner Schule hatte so einen Mantel, und ich war so stolz! ;-)

Viele von euch werden das vielleicht nicht wissen - aber das waren die Zeiten, wo Kinder heiss ersehnte Kleidungsstücke  nur zu Weihnachten und Geburtstagen bekamen, dazu vielleicht von Mutter, Grossmutter und Tanten gefertigte Sachen. Ich hatte Glück - mir war es erlaubt, in den abgelegten Kleidungsstücken aller drei zu wühlen, und meine Tante verkleinerte sie dann für mich. Ich glaube, das war die Geburtsstunde meiner Liebe für Vintage. Es waren alles Kleider aus den 50er und 60er-Jahren, nichts älteres, der Krieg hatte in meiner Gegend Tabula Rasa gemacht.
Nachdem ich 10 Jahre lang Kleidung für meine Barbie (ja, nur eine!! sogar die 'reichen' Mädchen hatten nur eine, und vielleicht einen Ken dazu) gefertigt hatte, begann ich nun, für mich selbst zu handarbeiten, und bald war der Platz in meinem Zimmer nicht mehr ausreichend - aber dahinter gab's einen Abstellraum, und mit Sofa, Armstühlen und niedrigem Tisch von einer anderen Tante - auch '50er Jahre, wäre jetzt supermodern - fühlte ich mich wie eine Prinzessin in ihrem Palast.

Heutzutage ist alles ganz anders, und ich habe mich nur daran erinnert, weil ich über eine Geschichte zum Erzählen nachdachte.
Begonnen hat es damit, dass ich einen Post über weite rote Röcke machen wollte. Ich beschloss, einen davon, drei-stufig, in kariertem Flanell mit Sonnen-Plisse, gestern gleich anzuziehen, und darüber einen kürzlich gekauften Bouclé-Mantel mit Pailletten, der mich an einen meiner Mutter erinnerte, den ich aber nicht anziehen durfte, da er neu war.

Amo i vestiti lunghi sin da quando ero ragazzina, e mi ricordo ancora benissimo dei primi due cappotti lunghi.
Uno era nero, anni '50, sopra stretto, la parte sotto molto ampia. Era il mio primo pezzo adulto.
Il secondo l'ho ricevuto come regalo di Natale, ed era meraviglioso: un Betty Barclay in linea A, con sopra un piccolo cape che finiva in una striscia di pelliccia ecologica. Nessuna nella mia scuola aveva una cosa del genere, ed ero così fiera! ;-)

Tanti di voi magari non lo sanno, ma in questi tempi vestiti tanto desiderati arrivavano solo a Natale e ai compleanni, con l'aggiunta magari di cose fatte a mano dalle donne di famiglia. Io sono stata fortunata, mi era permessa di scegliere dai capi smessi, e una mia zia li adattava a me. Penso che da qui viene il mio amore per il Vintage. Erano tutti capi degli anni '50 e 60', niente di più vecchio, perché nella mia zona la guerra non aveva lasciato niente.
Iniziavo anche a fabbricarmi vestiti io, così che presto non avevo più spazio nella mia stanza e reclamavo il ripostiglio dietro, arredato con sofa e poltrone anche' essi anni '50, ereditati da un'altra zia. Mi sentivo come una principessa nel suo palazzo....

Fortunatamente per molti i tempi sono migliori adesso, ma allora era la norma, anche le bambine 'ricche' non avevano molto di più.
Mi sono ricordata di tutto questo perché volevo fare un post su gonne ampie col tema del rosso, decidendo ieri di mettere uno subito - di flanella scozzese in tre balze plissettate. Sopra ho messo un cappotto recentemente acquistato in stoffa bouclé nera, con paillettes, che mi ricordava uno nel guardaroba di mia madre, che pero non mi era permesso di mettere perché nuovo.

Issa London Wrap Style Sash Dress / English / Deutsch / Italiano

Rummaging through my winter clothes I re-discovered this Issa London dress (ca. 2008) which I would have liked to wear these days, hadn't I gained lately just the few pounds that make it impossible...
Anyway, I prepared an outfit ready to wear should I suddenly discover that I've had enough of all the leftover Christmas sweets ;-)


Beim Umräumen meiner Wintersachen habe ich dieses Jersey-Kleid im Wickel-Stil von Issa London (ca. 2008) wiederentdeckt. Ich würde es ja sehr gerne jetzt anziehen, aber leider, leider .....  zu viele  Festessen in letzter Zeit :(
Ich habe aber schon mal ein Outfit hergerichtet, könnte ja sein, dass ich demnächst genug habe von all den übrig gebliebenen Süßigkeiten.....


Ravanando negli armadi in cerca di vestiti invernali ho trovato questo abito di Issa London (ca. 2008) che mi piacerebbe tanto mettere, ma purtroppo le feste hanno lasciato troppi segni, uffa.
Ho comunque preparato un outfit, se per caso mi stufo di tutti i dolci rimasti....

Artificial Snow... / Künstlicher Schnee... / Neve Artificiale...

Last Christmas we had that much snow here in the Italian Dolomite Mountains that we hardly could step out of the house, with electricity black out for five days (no internet, and no heating, too! I discovered that one room can neatly be warmed just by - lots of - candles!!!).
On the contrary this year there nearly is no snow - so I've tried to produce my own by means of my collection of vintage (1950-1970) rhinestone snowflake pins ;-)

Letzte Weihnachten hatten wir so viel Schnee hier in den Dolomiten, dass wir fast nicht zur Tür hinaus konnten, einen 5-tägigen Blackout (kein Internet, keine Heizung.......habe entdeckt, dass man einen Raum auch mit Kerzen heizen kann!!!).
Heuer hingegen gibt's fast keinen Schnee, deshalb mache ich ihn mir selbst .... mit diesen  Vintage Strass-Broschen in Schneeflocken-Form (1950 - 1970)  ;-)

L'altro anno a Natale c'era così tanta neve qui nelle Dolomiti che quasi non uscivamo dalla porta, e und black out di 5 giorni (senza Internet, senza riscaldamento a parte le candele, che, se sono tante, possono veramente riscaldare una stanza).
Quest'anno invece quasi niente, così me lo faccio io tramite le spille di strass a forma di fiocchi di neve ;-)
