FEELING BLUE-GREEN TODAY /Scottish scarf - English/Deutsch/italiano

These are the coldest days of this winter in Milan, but with a beautiful sun and much light. Too warm for shearling or eiderdown anyway. This jeans gore skirt (second half of '80) is a little bit dark, so I lighten it with a light blue-green-marroon cashmere men's sweater and a big and fluffy vintage Scottish mohair scarf in the same colors as the sweater, marked 'CRAIG-NA-CREIDHE - in the Burns' country, Ayrshire'.

It is very difficult to understand the production date of Scottish scarfs as they were made n the same way all over the 20th century, and even the labels often remained unaltered from the 1950' to 1970'. This one is very soft on the skin (unlike the older ones that scratch), and has an additional label that says 'Old Dress Black Watch', so I think it's newer.

Decided to use my dark grey Emanuel Ungaro Collection (already seen here ) coat a lot now, as in 15 years I rarely donned it - it is floor-length and requires very high platform boots....
The dark green nappa leather hunters bag is by Gerard Darel

Schottischer Mohair-Schal

Sciarpa scozzese in Mohair

The Seventies Are Now! English/Deutsch/Italian

  • This spring's fashion takes it's inspiration mainly from the 1950' and 1970', featuring all kinds of long skirts. As a continuation of the color discussion about dark red vs. marsala in one of my last posts (here), today I want to show you how I actually styled the 1970' suede skirt, because if I don't use it now I'll have to wait another 30 years ;-)))
  • In the meantime I tried to define the actual color: somewhere in-between Pantone's chili-pepper and rose redAccording to a Vintage (=more than 20 years old, this one dates back to 1979) chart of colors for FIAT cars it is sporty red.   I like it!

Today I combined it with a grey cashmere turtleneck, with necklace of mother-of-pearl, 1980'
Following, the colors I already prepared for the next times I use it. As long as it's cold outside I will put on sweaters, later on shirts

In light blue. Necklace and pendant Sterling silver and acrylic by Björn Weckström for Lapponia, Finland 1971

In hellblau. Halskette mit Anhänger von Björn Weckström für Lapponia, Finnland, 1971

In azzurro. Collana con pendente di Björn Weckström per Lapponia, Finlandia, 1971

Two different shades of apple green (I have a lot of pieces in this color :)), with crocodile print belt and contemporary made necklace of broken pieces of  old porcelain

Wanted to try out the difference between i-phone 4 and 6 - for me, 4 won!!! Which experiences do you have with the different cell phones, regarding the pictures??

JEWELRY / I LOVE SCOTTIES English/Deutsch/Italiano

At the height of the Bakelite Costume Jewelry craze in the 1930' USA, some inventive designer copied Fala, President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Scottish Terrier, as a pin for everywoman.
It became so popular that it was imitated in all materials, including rhinestones.

Didn't take long, and Europeans adopted the fashion in molded plastics, like Cellulose Acetate and Galalith (Erinoid, material derived from milk proteins). Great Britain preferred these,  colored and painted, but in spite of the controversial political situation it gained immense popularity in Germany, where it too was produced in stamped metal, wood,  sawdust bound with glue, glass....
The fashion lasted until the 1970'

The title picture shows plastic pins on a 1990' ICEBERG sweater

left yellow galalith with rhinestones, right green Bakelite, both 1930/40
links gelbes Galalith mit Strass, rechts grünes Bakelit, beide 1930/40
a sinistra galalite giallo con strass, a destra Bakelite verde, 1930/40
